Talks between Liverpool and Khephren Thuram are now at an advanced stage, as the Reds look to wrap up a transfer.

That’s according to Football Transfers, who claim that the OGC Nice player has now made a move to Liverpool his priority. Despite reported interest from PSG and Newcastle United, Thuram is said to favour joining the Reds over any other team.

To that end, Liverpool are claimed to be deep in discussion with Khephren and his father Lilian. The legendary former France defender is said to be leading the negotiations for his son.

Other sides do reportedly continue to lurk, though. Newcastle are claimed to have already held talks with the Thuram’s and ‘remain keen’ on the 22-year-old, as well as fellow Liverpool target Manu Kone.

PSG meanwhile, are said to only be willing to pay for Thuram in instalments. Manuel Ugarte is reportedly a more pressing priority for the Parisians. As a result, Liverpool currently lead the race.

Liverpool ramp up transfer talks

If Thuram is willing to put Liverpool as his priority in the market, then the Reds should do the same for him. The 6ft 4in midfielder looks like a really exciting prospect.

Currently valued at around £53m, he has the feeling of a player who’s price could rocket if given the right tools to perform.

Tall, rangy, powerful, but still very technically gifted, Thuram looks like potentially the full package. For a Liverpool side that need all of that added to its midfield, the France international could be a gift from the Gods.

As a result, Reds fans have been getting very excited about the prospect of Jurgen Klopp bringing him to Anfield.

Over the past week, since the end of the Premier League season, things look to have ramped up with regards to transfers. With Liverpool trying to get their business done early, we can expect that talks with prospective signings are now hitting the ‘advanced’ stage.

With that, and all the noise surrounding Thuram in mind, there could well be some truth in this report. We’ll know soon enough.

Maybe things are starting to align for Liverpool in the market. Watch this space, Reds.
