Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has used the international break to take a closer look at January signing Alfie Harrison.

The 18-year-old took part in training on Wednesday with Howe also able to call on Miguel Almiron after the Paraguay international returned home from international duty early. The Toon head coach will also be able to rely on the services of Alexander Isak, Emil Krafth and Fabian Schar ahead of the game with West Ham.

Harrison arrived from Manchester City in January and has been working his way up to senior involvement after scoring in the Academy team before making five appearances for the Under-21s. For Howe, with many members of his squad missing, this week has been the ideal opportunity to look at the teenager.

Harrison signed for United for an undisclosed fee from Man City after being at the Etihad Stadium since he was nine. He said then: "I'm an effective player who can add goals and assists. I really like to create stuff but, on the other side, I'd also say I'm a very passionate player who always wants to win."

It remains to be seen whether Harrison gets a Premier League debut before now and the end of the season. Although, Howe has handed competitive bows to Lewis Miley, Ben Parkinson, Amadou Diallo and Alex Murphy this term.

United arrived back from Dubai earlier in the week after a week long stint in the Middle East. The trip was used as both a training period but also a relax and recuperation session after a hectic schedule in both the FA Cup and Premier League.

Toon chief Howe will meet the Press on Good Friday morning but already has one name to delcare absent for the encounter with the Hammers after Lewis Miley was ruled out with a back injury while on duty with England Under-20s.
