West Ham United are sweating on the fitness of two of our key players ahead of the clash with Newcastle United tomorrow according to David Moyes.

David Moyes will be desperate for his team to get a big three points in the Premier League against Newcastle tomorrow lunchtime.

The Hammers are currently sitting in seventh spot in the table, three places and four points ahead of the Magpies.

We actually haven’t got a bad record at St James’ Park, having beaten them twice since 2018, and we’ve only lost once in the past four trips there.

West Ham vs Newcastle all-time head-to-head:

Everyone knows how hard it is to go to Newcastle and get a result, but Eddie Howe could be missing as many as nine key players for tomorrow’s match.

If we take the game to them, we’ll have every chance of winning. However, it seems like two of our players are doubts for the game, with one of them being our best player…

David Moyes says West Ham duo are doubts for Newcastle clash

The 60-year-old Hammers boss addressed the media during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

Moyes provided an injury update ahead of the clash with the Toon, and named two players who are doubts for the game.

The Scot said he’s sweating on the fitness of Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta, as quoted by Roshane Thomas:

“We’re pretty much fine but we have a question mark over Aguerd and we’re assessing Paqueta.”

Paqueta was the Hammers’ club record signing back in the summer of 2022 when Moyes paid £50 million for the Brazilian (Goal), whilst we paid £30 million to bring the Moroccan to the London Stadium from Rennes in the same transfer window (BBC).

The former Lyon man has established himself as arguably West Ham’s best player, whilst the 27-year-old centre-back has really struggled this season.

However, Aguerd is still a useful option for Moyes, especially given Kurt Zouma’s fitness woes. That said, we can cope without him. Unfortunately for us, the same cannot be said for Paqueta.

He is so crucial to everything good that we do as a club, and without him we’re just nowhere near as effective as a team.

Moyes has suggested that both players are being assessed ahead of the Newcastle vs West Ham clash, so let’s just hope that they pass their fitness tests.
