Newcastle United have changed the name of their official website in a bid to increase global appeal.

The club have ditched the old domain name of nufc.co.uk and can now be found on www.newcastleunited.com with the Magpies aiming to increase their reach. That has been the aim of the Magpies since the takeover and significantly since the arrival of CCO Peter Silverstone who has underlined the need to become more of a global brand.

Silverstone said earlier this season: "We still have to work hard to persuade potential partners and there is a lot of ‘outbound’ activity to speak with brands, but clearly there has been increased interest in the last two years. But we have a lot of work to do on secondary partnerships and growing globally is key."

Newcastle toured America last year and will visit Australia next month as they look to link up with fanbases around the globe. Eddie Howe said: "This is a great opportunity to showcase Newcastle United at two iconic venues in an iconic city as the club continues to grow globally.

"We are privileged to have so many incredible supporters around the world, and it's a chance to be able to play in front of many in Australia who wouldn't ordinarily get the chance to see the team. We look forward to engaging with our supporters in Melbourne and giving them the opportunity to feel closer to the club."

Back in 2022, Newcastle staged the first supporter engagement event for international fans in Riyadh. CEO Darren Eales said then: "Our supporters, many of whom live thousands of miles away from us in Newcastle, yet still follow us passionately every week, have been able to spend time with Eddie Howe and the players and this means so much to everybody."
