Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes is facing a testing summer programme that could see the midfielder facing non-stop action.

Should Bruno make Newcastle's post-season tour of Australia, the Brazil international could be left with just one week of rest before he has to link up with his country ahead of the Copa America. Bruno is not the only Newcastle star facing a summer tournament of course with Fabian Schar, Anthony Gordon, Kieran Trippier and Martin Dubravka all due for international call-ups ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany.

Bruno's fellow countryman Joelinton, recovering from a thigh injury, could also be called up for action if he can prove his fitness for Brazil.

If Miguel Almiron is fit enough, he too could face a gruelling schedule with Paraguay also in for a big summer of Copa America action. After a summer of injury torment, Eddie Howe will be anxiously keeping tabs on his players at both the Euros and the long haul extravaganza of football across the States in the Copa America.

Brazil will be linking up for Copa America preparations just before June 8 and just a week or so after Bruno is scheduled to return from Australia after games against Tottenham and the A-League All Stars. He will the face two high octane friendlies against Mexico in the heat of Texas and then on to Florida to face the USA in a high profile exhibition game just before the American hosts get the Copa America itself under way.

Assuming Brazil can negotiate their Group D fixtures against Costa Rica, Almiron's Paraguay and Colombia, Bruno could be in for tournament action until July 14 when the final takes place in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium. The group games take place at some of the world's most stunning grounds in LA, Las Vegas and Santa Clara.

Bruno would then be given a short stint to rest by United due to international rules but with a pre-season camp taking place at the end of July, he could soon be back in action for his club.

Bruno told Chronicle Live recently: "It's taken a lot of energy from me. I am very tired after international football and 90 plus minutes. I think I have played around 52 games for club and country this season. There's nine games to go and then after that the Copa America."
