Newcastle United will make the long trip to South London this evening for their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, and Eddie Howe will be hoping that his side can keep the pressure on the European qualification spots.
The Magpies will return to Premier League action after a break over the weekend, and another convincing victory like their 4-0 thriller against Tottenham Hotspur would be fantastic away from home.
Eddie Howe will be taking his squad down to London for the clash under the floodlights at Selhurst Park this evening, and there is an opportunity to even further cement themselves into the sixth spot.
In terms of injuries, Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley, Joelinton, Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope, and Miguel Almiron are all ruled out as they continue recovery, while Sandro Tonali remains suspended and unavailable for selection, as a result.
However, there has been some good news as Callum Wilson could be set to return to action again Palace and the Newcastle boss spoke out about the striker’s return in his pre-match press conference yesterday:
“Callum has trained really well this week; it has been good to have him back. The energy and quality that he brings, he has come back looking really good. We anticipate he will be able to hit the ground running and make an impact for us.”
How could Newcastle line up against Crystal Palace?
We predict that Howe will make just one change to the starting eleven he deployed against Spurs, but will maintain his usual formation of 4-3-3.
In goal, we expect Martin Dubravka to retain his role, whilst Dan Burn, Fabian Schar and Emile Krafth remain in the defensive set up.
The first and only change we predict is the return of Tino Livramento to the starting eleven, he will likely be deployed in the right back position to make up for Kieran Trippier’s absence.
In the centre of the pitch, we expect to see an unchanged midfield trio of Brazilian dynamo Bruno Guimaraes, Elliot Anderson and Sean Longstaff.
Last but not least, in the final third to face Crystal Palace, we predict that Howe will rely on Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes to deliver the goods.
