Newcastle United join race to sign Abdul Aziz Issah

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign 18-year-old Ghanaian playmaking prodigy Abdul Aziz Issah from African club Dreams FC.

According to a report by Ghana Soccernet, Abdul Aziz Issah is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The 18-year-old playmaking prodigy is also a target for other top-flight clubs like Nottingham Forest and Sporting CP. In addition, African clubs Zamalek and Al Ahly are keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window.

Who is Abdul Aziz Issah?

Abdul Aziz Issah is the latest Ghanaian wonderkid to rise in prominence. The teenage sensation has spent his formative years in his homeland, becoming a professional footballer at Dreams FC while making his mark in the CAF Confederation Cup with his club.

The 18-year-old has amassed four goals and two assists to help Dreams FC reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. In addition, he played his part as Ghana won the gold medal in the African Games on home soil. So, it is hardly surprising that the youngster has captured the attention of several well-known clubs.

While African clubs Zamalek and Al Ahly are keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window, a move to Europe might be on the cards. Sporting CP will look to replace Abdul Fatawu Issahaku with his compatriot if he completes a permanent move to Leicester City. However, Premier League outfits, including Newcastle United, are also interested in Issah.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Abdul Aziz Issah is hardly surprising. The Magpies have constantly scoured the market for highly-rated prospects since the Saudi Arabian-backed takeover. They have signed prodigies like Garang Kuol and Yankuba Minteh, whose future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks.

Issah has now emerged as a long-term target for Newcastle United. The 18-year-old African playmaking prodigy can be a solution for the coming decade alongside homegrown prospects like Lewis Miley and Elliot Anderson, with Minteh and Kuol also options for the future.

Newcastle United will face stiff competition from Nottingham Forest, Sporting CP, and a few African clubs for the Dreams FC wonderkid. So, it will be interesting to see if Issah becomes the latest highly-rated prospect to move to St. James’ Park.
