Newcastle United exploring deals with £2bn Saudi war chest – Kieran Maguire
Newcastle United will look to do business with Saudi Arabian clubs this summer amid reports that they will have a £2billion transfer budget.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle will be a willing seller to Saudi but deals could hinge on whether players want to move there.
According to CaughtOffside, the Saudi Pro League is ready to spend around £2bn on transfers over the upcoming summer window.
Saudi Arabian clubs invested heavily last summer, including big-money deals for Premier League stars such as Alexander Mitrovic, Ruben Neves and Fabinho.
Newcastle have also used their Saudi Arabian links to strike transfer deals with the Pro League with a £30million sale of Allan Saint-Maximin to Al Ahli.

Maguire believes Newcastle could explore their PiF links to complete sales but warned that it will also require players willing to move to Saudi.

“For Newcastle to capitalise on Saudi’s spending, they need all pieces pointing in the same direction,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There has to be a willing buyer – I think Newcastle will be a willing seller of fringe players, but the move has to suit the player too.
“We’ve seen with some player moves to the Saudi Pro League that it has not worked out.
“For example, I’ve not heard anything about Saint-Maximin since his move and I’m not sure that Saudi football is managing to grow an audience.“
