Newcastle United are expected to rest some players for the FA Cup third round clash against Bromley on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies host the League Two club as they look to avoid a big upset and book their place in the fourth round of the competition. The game comes just days after Newcastle took a big step towards Wembley in the Carabao Cup semi-final with a 2-0 away win over Arsenal in the first leg.

That game saw Alexander Isak again impress with his performance. The striker scored the opening goal in the win over Arsenal, but was also left nursing an injury after being taken off with 25 minutes of the game left.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, Eddie Howe relieved any doubt that the injury could be long term, but did hint that he will not be included in the squad vs Bromley.

"We think he's pretty good. He's seeing his physio at the moment, having a couple of days rest,” he said.

"We think he's in a good place and he'll report back tomorrow. Initial assessments, fingers crossed he'll be OK. We would probably have involved him in some way but I think he'll be given this game to rest."

Another two players who suffered problems against Arsenal were Joe Willock and Sven Botman. Both are again doubtful for the game, and are unlikely to be risked with one eye on the midweek Premier League clash against Wolves.

The good news for Newcastle is that they will be getting two players back from suspension. Both Fabian Schar and Bruno Guimaraes were unable to play against Arsenal due to suspension but could be back in contention this weekend.

With changes to the starting line-up and the squad expected, here is a look at all the options available to Howe ahead of the game.
